[387] Glen E. Swanson has held a fascination for space exploration since childhood. A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, he received a bachelor of science degree in education from Western Michigan University in 1987, where he majored in history and minored in physics and mathematics. After several years of teaching, including a year as program director for the Michigan Space Center in Jackson, Michigan, he founded CSPACE Press, an aerospace publishing firm, during which time he acquired, and served as editor of, Countdown, a monthly magazine covering the Space Shuttle program. In 1992, he founded Quest, the world's only publication devoted to the history of space flight. Swanson has served as a consultant for several space history television productions, including Moon Shot, Rockets, and the HBO series From the Earth to the Moon. After obtaining a master of science degree in space studies from the University of North Dakota in 1998, he began working for NASA as historian of the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. He currently lives in League City, Texas.
